Types of therapy
Evidence-based psychological therapy to help you move forward
Struggling with anxiety, low mood, or past trauma? Our expert therapists provide a range of evidence-based therapies tailored to your needs, helping you overcome challenges and build a more fulfilling life.
Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT)
CBT focuses on how thoughts, feelings, and behaviours are interconnected. By understanding how negative thought patterns contribute to emotional distress, CBT helps you reframe your thinking and develop healthier coping strategies.
CBT is one of the most effective treatments for anxiety and depression, equipping individuals with practical tools to manage symptoms and achieve personal goals.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)
ACT is a values-driven behavioural therapy that helps individuals accept difficult thoughts and emotions while committing to positive change. It focuses on:
Clarifying what truly matters to you.
Accepting distressing thoughts and emotions instead of fighting them.
Taking meaningful action to create a fulfilling life.
DNA-V (For Adolescents)
DNA-V is a specialised ACT model for young people, developed by Dr. Louise Hayes and Dr. Joseph Ciarrochi. It introduces three core psychological skills:
Discoverer – The part of you that explores and tries new experiences.
Noticer – Your ability to tune into feelings and emotions.
Advisor – Your inner voice that helps you navigate challenges.
This model encourages self-awareness, emotional resilience, and personal growth to help adolescents live in alignment with their values.
Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR)
EMDR is a highly effective therapy for processing traumatic memories. It helps rewire the way traumatic events are stored in the brain, reducing emotional distress and improving self-perception.
EMDR sessions involve specific techniques such as:
Bilateral stimulation (eye movements, sounds, or tapping).
Guided recall and reprocessing of distressing memories.
Replacing negative beliefs with more adaptive perspectives.
This approach is widely used for PTSD, anxiety, and past traumas, helping individuals regain control over their emotions and experiences.

Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET)
NET is an evidence-based treatment for PTSD, particularly for individuals who have experienced multiple traumatic events.
During NET, a therapist helps the individual reconstruct their life story, marking both traumatic and positive experiences:
Stones symbolize difficult or painful events.
Flowers represent positive memories and strengths.
By piecing together their story, individuals can gain clarity, reduce emotional distress, and make sense of their experiences. This therapy is often used for children and young people dealing with chronic trauma.
Compassion-Focused Therapy (CFT)
CFT explores how past experiences and emotional patterns shape present-day behaviours and relationships. It focuses on balancing the three emotional regulation systems:
Threat system – Linked to anxiety, fear, and stress.
Drive system – Associated with motivation and goal-seeking.
Soothe system – Helps regulate emotions and develop self-compassion.
CFT encourages self-kindness, emotional resilience, and a deeper sense of self-worth, making it particularly helpful for those struggling with self-criticism, shame, or low self-esteem.
