Cognitive Behavioural Therapist
Claire Lenehan is a fully accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the British Association for Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists (BABCP). She holds a Postgraduate Diploma in Evidence-Based Psychological Treatment for Children and Young People from the University of Reading and is also registered with the Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC). Claire completed her degree in Mental Health Nursing in 2015 at the University of the West of England, which has shaped her compassionate, person-centred approach to therapy.Claire brings a wealth of experience in supporting young people and their families across a variety of settings. Her career has included work in an NHS community CAMHS team, Oxford’s CAMHS inpatient unit, as well as providing support to British children and families living abroad. Claire is deeply committed to helping young people navigate challenges, build resilience, and create meaningful, positive change in their lives.Claire specialises in goal-based, formulation-driven therapy, collaborating with young people to identify specific goals and create personalised treatment plans grounded in evidence-based practices. She has a particular interest in third-wave CBT approaches, such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and often uses creative tools like games and metaphors to make therapy both engaging and accessible. Claire is passionate about empowering young people to develop practical skills for managing difficult thoughts and emotions, ultimately leading to more fulfilling and meaningful lives.
