Dr Rebecca Tyrer
Clinical Psychologist & Founder
Rebecca is a Clinical Psychologist who gained her Doctorate from the University of Leeds in 2017. She has over 10 years of experience working with young people and families in the NHS, and currently holds a senior post in CAMHS. Rebecca has experience working with young people struggling with emotional regulation problems, self-harm and trauma. She is also skilled at helping people find a way forward from anxiety, depression and low-self-esteem.
She is an accredited Cognitive Behavioural Therapist (CBT) with the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapists and an experienced Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) practitioner and trainer. Rebecca was drawn to ACT by its practice of increasing psychological flexibility and its focus on valued living. She is keen to ensure its approach can reach children and young people through use of the adolescent model for ACT called DNA-v. Rebecca and has developed her skills in trauma-focused therapy through further training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitisation Reprocessing therapy), and Narrative Exposure Therapy (NET) and depending on the client’s needs, she will draw upon and integrate the most suitable therapeutic approaches.
Rebecca is a guest lecturer at the Oxford Institute of Clinical Psychology Training where she enjoys teaching others about the DNA-v approach and its effectiveness with young people and their families.
