Helen Swart
Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist
Helen Swart is a Qualified Child and Adolescent Psychoanalytic Psychotherapist who trained at The Tavistock and Postman NHS Trust. Helen is in the process of completing her doctorate thesis which is looking at ‘A qualitative exploration of child psychotherapists’ experiences of working with fathers and how they think about the role fathers play in their child’s mental health treatment’. Helen did a two-year infant observation and child development course at The Tavistock and Portman as part of the pre-clinical training but also as a way to understand development in children from pre-birth to eighteen-year-olds.
Before Helen commenced her pre-clinical training and her doctorate, she did her Master in Dramatherapy at the University of Derby.
Helen has five years’ experience of working in the NHS. Helen has predominately worked in CAMHS (Child and Adolescent Mental Health Services) and for a brief time also worked in the IPPS (Infant Parent Perinatal service working with mothers and their newborn babies.
